Site Introduction

The selected site for the UWE MArch 2 Urbanism Unit project is an inner-city, predominantly industrial area in the north of St Phillips, Bristol, UK. It is situated within the vicinity of Bristol's primary train station, Temple Meads, and has been designated as part of the Bristol Temple Meads Enterprise Zone to facilitate its development in the coming years.

Bristol city centre has gradually grown in the direction of St Phillips in the past 20 years, with substantial commercial construction taking place up to the site's boundary in the north-east. Sites to the east have been earmarked for significant development including a new University of Bristol campus on the former Parcelforce depot site, and the anticipated Bristol Arena project adjacent to that.

Our brief is to explore concepts of developing the area with a focus on delivering a physically, mentally, and socially healthy environment.
