The Place de la République is situated in a very special location within the city of Paris. As such it was deemd that the square should be special as well. TVK saw the potential of the square to be a place for the pedestrian, for events and for lingering.
​
They deemed that this potential should not be wasted and the future plans for the space must be designed for the long term, and thus should be able to accommodate evolutions over time. They identified that the indiscernible public areas for walking and the emphasis on vehicular traversal of the space should be rectified and have provided a space in which many things can happen. By diversifying the use of the space they have made it just as iconic as the location itself.
