Network Analysis
The site is isolated by a multitude of infrastructural factors as demonstrated in the diagrams, but more importantly it is the accessibility to the area and the mental impact that has on the individual that is most important to consider. There is only one road through the site, surrounded by arguably run down and intimidating spaces such as mechanics, lumber yards and scaffolding. Ducts spill out onto this road and it is also extremely poorly lit, as are any pedestrian areas surrounding the site.

Dis-Connections

Routes around the site, mainly vehicular, sever any connection with its immediate context. These routes include the train lines, the carriageway and the physical barrier of the canal. So advantageously there are many modes of transport surrounding the site but the inability to access them hinders the potential of the individual exploring the site. As shown here, the combination of all these inaccessible transport isolates the site.

Potential Connections
By looking at the city as a whole entity and assessing what it does and can offer allows us to better understand exactly what the site is disconnected from, how integral it is to modern day life and possibly how to better connect the site to it. This is a network analysis of Bristol at an urban scale. We can begin to understand where the area of activity already are and the opportunities for better connecting some aspects of the cityscape.

Types of connections
By breaking down the diagram into its constituent parts we can assess a variety of different facets of modern day living, apply the ones that we feel are applicable to the site and therefore try to understand how the site can be altered in order to weave it into the existing urban fabric successfully.

Connections to site
This is where the site exists within the existing urban fabric. We can see that it has the potential to be connected to a wide variety of different facets of the city and is on the cusp of the centre of activity. This then begs the questions, why is this space unsuccessful whilst surrounded by various architectural typologies and a variety of uses.
